The weigh ins took place on Saturday and Sarah tipped the scales at 49kg while her opponent, Emma Thomas, came in slightly lighter at 47.5kg.  However Sarah did not underestimate her knowing that anyone trained by Master Toddy in Thailand was bound to be good.

On the day of the fight all the preparations went well, and beginning to warm up in the backroom, it was apparent that Sarah was “in the zone” for this one!

On entrance to the ring she looked focused although nervous, but she took that energy and chanelled it into a fantastic start.  Both girls got stuck in from the off and the first round was a draw.  In the second, however, Sarah began to block more effectively and score with her own kicks and knees, a clear win for Sarah.  Into the third and it was apparent that the Kao Loi fighter was quicker and stronger and had more variety to her attacks.  Emma began to tire and at one point was knocked out of the ring, having to get back in to continue the fight.  In the fifth Sarah landed some solid body attacks which made Emma take a deep breath to regain composure, and at the bell it sounded both fighters knew who had won.

A gutsy performance from Emma to keep going to the final bell, and a stunning win for Sarah!
