Jak wins at Pegasus Show
A superb performance for Jak in his second fight
Jak fought on the Pegasus show in Leeds on Saturday 20th. He weighed in at 75kg with his opponent, Paul Hartman from Garuda Muay Thai, very slightly lighter. Jak had a significant height advantage but it remained to be seen whether he could make his advantage tell during the contest.
The contest was scheduled as an amateur bout over 3 rounds of 2 minutes. Knees were allowed to the body only. The plan going in was to use front kicks and high roundhouse kicks to the head to keep his shorter opponent at bay. Jak managed to implement this plan to the letter and unleashed his high kicks from the first bell.
Paul tried to close the ground and use low kicks and overhand rights to stop him operating, but Jak defended against these attacks very well. When the ground closed between the pair Jak clinched and was unfortunate to catch a few knees "below the border".
In the second round Jak landed his high right kick flush and dropped Paul for an 8 count. Paul recovered and did well to take the fight to Jak in the last round. Jak took a couple of big right punches but soaked it up and still won the round. A good fight with Jak taking a clear decision.
Well Done to both fighters.
