Harry E, Harry B, Naseer, Duncan results
All boys perform well and Duncan brings home the bacon!
First up from Kao Loi was Harry Ettridge in a no decision bout and he showed his Muay Thai had moved to another level after some Muay Boran training with Kru Paul. We are all looking forward to seeing him in his next decision bout.
Harry Brecken showed he has grown in confidence after his town hall match with Kenzie Roberts, winning against Oliver Dale from Beastmasters Gym.
Naseer who trains in Leeds, fought well in his debut fight against his northeastern opponent. The fight was close and fought at a furious pace throughout. Both fighters should take credit for creating a very exciting spectacle for the crowd.
Last on the bill was Duncan Scott fighting for a Pro-Am English Title. His opponent was Luke Kennedy from Tobins Gym.
The fighters records prior to the fight suggested a closely contested bout, with Duncan having only 2 losses after 9 fights, and Luke not losing after 7. Many of the pundits could not pick a winner.
The fight, matched at 57kg over 5 rounds, began at a furious pace with Luke trying to hurt Duncan with heavy punches and low kicks, but Scott quickly moved past these weapons into the clinch. Duncan began to dominate by using his knee strikes, although Luke turned him well on occasion and countered with his own knees. However towards the end of the round Duncan landed a hurtful knee to Luke’s left rib and he tried to protect it, but Duncan piled on the pressure attacking the injury again and again winning the round convincingly.
Going into the second Luke rallied and started strongly with punches and low kicks, hoping to discourage Duncan from his incessant pressure. It wasn’t long before he found himself in the clinch again and on the receiving end of knee after knee. The strategy was working well and it proved to be the story throughout the fight. In the last round Luke landed a telling punch but it was answered with a heavy body kick, and Duncan took the title belt by unanimous decision.
Well done to all our fighters. Duncan's fight can be seen on youtube at :
