Chris Guyll MMA debut
Wolfslair opponent in first MMA fight
Mr Big Kat himself took to the octogon on the Wolfslair show in Warrington after taking a fight at 3 weeks notice. Chris has been doing some training with MMA veteran Rich Kenny. However Chris's strengths are his striking and this was the game plan against a shorter wrestler.
Rich had been working on defending the takedown but at the start of the fight, the Wolfslair fighter stood off Chris and waited for his opportunity. Chris applied some pressure and used his jab to probe for openings. He felt as if nothing was happening, and eager to get the fight going jabbed and followed with a hard lowkick. This was the opportunity the Warrington fighter was waiting for and he immediately went for the takedown, and he now had Chris in his favored area.
Now, for Chris it was a matter of getting the fight back to standing without being submitted, and with 2 mins left in the round and with 2 ground sessions practice, it seemed like a tall order. He did really well though and managed to survive top and side position for 1.5 minutes. Running out of time in the first, the Warrington fighter eventually tried the North South position and Chris quickly turned and tried to scramble to his feet, however it was anticipated and he was arm dragged and found himself in a rear naked choke to which he quickly tapped out.
Chris enjoyed the experience and is keen to improve.
